Are you a frequent traveler? If yes then, you must ensure that your travel is a safe one. For most people travelling is fun, they simply love to travel from one place to another. People visit new place, enjoy the weather and climate of a particular place, witness their culture, etc. Apart from those travelling as a tourist, there are some people who travel for business purposes. And they travel for things like business meetings, conferences, projects, visiting a site, etc. Whether the travel is personal or strictly business, it is important that an individual is safe while travelling. In case of any mishap, there should be something to support an individual. And for a person who travels on a regular basis, such as multiple times in a year, it is better to opt for a suitable Annual Travel Insurance plan from a reputed insurance company.
Different policies offer different types of cover and it can at times get confusing. To get maximum benefit from your travel policy you need to understand what it covers and what benefits you would receive in case of medical emergencies, cancellation or interruption of trip, loss of baggage or theft and other unexpected situations.
If you travel two or three times in a year then, taking annual travel insurance in India gives you better value compared to single trip policies. Annual travel insurance policy is also the best option when you have kids and go on vacation regularly. It is advisable that you invest in a suitable annual travel insurance policy now, rather than search for a policy last minute when you are about to travel.
HDFC Ergo Health (formerly Apollo Munich) has just the right kind of plan for frequent travelers. It is the Annual Travel Insurance plan for multiple trips. By buying such a plan, a person who travels frequently does not need to buy travel insurance each time he or she has to travel. They can just buy one of these policies and be covered for all travels they make. However, there is a certain limit on the number of days a person is travelling, according to which a maximum duration per trip will be 30 or 60 days. Also there is an annual limit of 180 days.
Under the Annual Multi Trip Plan, HDFC Ergo Health (formerly Apollo Munich) offers an individual with four different variants. These variants are Platinum, Gold, Silver and Asian Region. Each of these plans has a set of some inclusions as well as exclusion, about which an individual buying annual travel insurance should be aware of.
Under Asian region plan, an individual gets covered for things like, medical expenses up to $25,000, dental treatment up to $250, repatriation of mortal remains up to a sum of $7,500, then, up to $200 for loss of passport, a sum of $10,000 for personal accident, for personal accident – common carrier there is an amount of $5,000, personal liability of $10,000 and $50 or $250 of daily allowance for cases like hijack. Furthermore, under the silver plan an individual can get all these benefits along with a few more. Plus, for medical expenses, the amount goes to $ 100,000 from $25,000. Along with these benefits, an individual gets coverage for things like total loss of checked baggage for a sum of $500, $200 for delay of checked baggage and $200 for financial emergency.
Other variants, Gold and platinum; offer all the benefits that an Asian Region and Silver plan offers. In addition to the benefits offered by them, a Gold plan offers an individual with $20 or $120 for hospital daily cash. Furthermore, this plan also offers coverage of $25 or $100 for trip delay and a $1000 in case of trip cancellation. Under the Gold plan, the amount is increased for a few benefits offered by Asian Region and Silver, such as medical expenses coverage goes up to $250,000, amount for delay of check baggage and loss of passport is $300, the amount for personal accident and personal accident – common carrier is $20,000 and $10,000. Even cover for personal liability gets raised to a sum of $100,000.
Now, for the Platinum plan, sum for medical expenses is $500,000, dental treatment cover is for $500, up to a sum of $10,000 for repatriation of mortal remains; hospital daily cash goes to $25 to $150, total loss of checked baggage goes to a sum of $1,000. Furthermore, for personal accident and personal accident – common carrier a sum of $25,000 and $20,000 each are assigned. For financial emergency the amount assigned under Platinum plan is $300, hijack daily allowance is $100 or $500, then, for trip delay and trip cancellation an amount of $50 or $200 and $2000 each are assigned. Along with this, the added benefits offered under the Platinum plan are, trip curtailment up to $2000 and $500 for missed connection.
