COVID-19 related FAQs

Is Corona Virus related treatment covered in my policy?
All the indemnity health insurance products (e.g. Easy Health, Optima Restore, Health Wallet, Optima Senior, Energy) cover hospitalization due to Corona Virus (COVID-19).
Admissibility criteria will be defined by medical management protocols for treatment, evaluation and quarantine suggested by Government along with the terms and conditions of the Health Insurance Product.
In all our indemnity products, in case of a fresh policy a 30 day waiting period is applicable for COVID-19 treatment. If a policy has been renewed without a break, and for policies that have been ported-in to HDFC Ergo Health, no waiting periods would apply to the existing members and for the existing Sum Insured.
You can enhance your Sum Insured at the time of renewal of the policy, subject to medical assessment. Relevant waiting periods will apply to the enhanced amount of the Sum Insured as per policy terms and conditions.

Yes, you can add eligible relations to the plan at the time of renewal, subject to their medical assessment. Relevant waiting periods will apply to the newly added family members as per policy terms and conditions.
Our indemnity plans only cover costs for treatment taken in India. Health Wallet plan covers only emergency treatment outside India, subject to product terms and conditions.
No, your travel history does not affect your claim eligibility, as long as the treatment has been availed in India.
Quarantine is covered if associated with treatment in a registered medical facility as per the terms and conditions of the Health Insurance Product. If the Quarantine is just for isolation without any treatment, then it is not covered.
No OPD expenses are not covered unless the same leads to, or follows hospitalization for Covid-19. In such a case OPD expenses will be covered under pre/post hospitalization expenses, as per the policy terms and conditions.
Customer can opt for cashless treatment in a network hospital or can file for reimbursement after discharge from the Hospital. Re-imbursement claim can also be intimated on our app.
