Blog > Health Wallet; the One-Stop Solution to All Your Health Insurance Concerns!

Are you confused about buying health insurance? Do you wonder how the plan would be of any use if you don’t fall ill? Whether you’d be able to afford the premium as it rises with age? How you’d manage to pay for both the plan and your everyday medical expenses?

We, at HDFC Ergo Health (formerly Apollo Munich), recognised these common concerns that several people tend to have and came up with a new, revolutionary plan; Health Wallet.

Health Wallet- The Answer to All Your Concerns
#1 How will my health insurance be useful if I don’t fall ill?

Health Wallet is designed to help you maintain your health by covering several outpatient & everyday medical expenses. The Reserve Benefit offers an amount separate from your sum insured that you can use for a variety of health expenses not usually covered by health insurance, such as:
  • Diagnostic tests
  • Doctor consultations
  • Pharmacy
  • Spectacles and contact lenses
  • Dental expenses
  • Consultations with a physiotherapist, dietitian or speech therapist
  • Health foods and supplements
  • Medical devices like blood pressure and sugar monitors and much more!
The beauty of the Reserve Benefit is that, at the time of renewal, your unused Reserve gets carried forward and earns a bonus of 6%! This way, as you invest in your plan, you reap returns in the form of a Reserve amount dedicated solely to your health.

#2 I am not sure if I can afford the premium, especially with rising age!

Caring for your health can get difficult as your income reduces or stops completely. With Health Wallet, you can pay up to 50% of your health insurance premium from the Reserve, after five consecutive renewals!

#3 What if I already have a health insurance plan?

You can go ahead and opt for the deductible option. A deductible is a cost-sharing feature where the insurer is liable to pay once the deductible has been paid for by the policyholder or a health insurance policy of his.
For instance, if you have a sum insured of Rs. 5 lakh and a deductible of Rs. 2 lakh and you make a claim of Rs. 3.5 lakh, the insurer would be liable to pay Rs. 1.5 lakh.
This way, you can supplement an existing health insurance plan with Health Wallet. You can also convert Health Wallet into a nil-deductible, full-fledged plan at a later stage.

#4 I am still not quite sure I need health insurance!

With double-digit medical inflation and a rise in lifestyle diseases, it is a must to insure yourself against possible medical contingencies.
Health Wallet is designed to come to your health’s rescue in various scenarios. Let us tell you about some of its other helpful features.

Restore Benefit
In case you exhaust your entire cover in a policy year, 100% of your basic sum insured gets reinstated, free of charge.

Multiplier Benefit
Didn’t make a claim throughout the year? You get a 50% bonus of your basic sum insured. If you don’t claim in the second year, your basic sum insured gets doubled. The great news is that even if you claim under the Reserve Benefit but do not claim from your sum insured, you get the no claim bonus!

Worldwide Emergency Care
Travelling but forgot to buy travel insurance? Health Wallet doubles up as travel insurance too. It reimburses emergency inpatient or daycare medical treatment expenses for conditions first manifested while travelling overseas.
Health Wallet is a plan that deeply understands each of your concerns and apprehensions and offers a foolproof solution to all. Health Wallet is your well-meaning companion for life, that keeps growing to keep up with your growing health needs.
