Our plan protects against uncertainties while you are travelling abroad for academic education. It offers choice of varied, customizable insurance plans to suit your university requirements. It is available in four variants: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze, with sum insured options ranging between USD 50,000 and USD 500,000. Plan offers a mandatory medical cover, plan can be customized with additional optional benefits like Accidental covers, Non medical covers, Travel inconvenience covers, Maternity & childcare benefits and many more under Additional benefits.

You can choose plans to cover geographies that include Worldwide [W], worldwide excluding US & Canada [X], Asiapac Including Australia [A]. Asiapac plan is only offered with silver & bronze variants.


         
Eligibility
  • The plan offers coverage to a student travelling overseas on a student visa for full time college or school education.
  • Plan coverage is on individual sum insured basis only.
  • Person with minimum age of 10 years & a maximum age of 50 years can be covered. In case a minor the proposer can be one of the parents/legal guardian.
  • Plan covers Insured between the time when the Insured Person leaves the Indian border as a fare paying passenger on a Carrier to earlier of the time of his return back to India as a fare paying passenger on a Carrier or the expiry date of the policy.
Plan Benefits

Medical Cover

  • Medical Treatment, Assistance & Evacuation -Coverage against any emergency medical treatment requiring inpatient or outpatient care, including medical evacuation to the hospital.
  • Dental Treatment - Medical Expenses for pain relieving dental treatment or treatment due to an accident.
  • Repatriation of Mortal Remains - The benefit covers cost of either transporting mortal remains to the place of residence or a cremation or burial ceremony in the foreign country.
  • Medical Cover for Trips Back in India - Medical Expenses for in-patient treatment at an Indian Hospital without a break during policy period for a maximum cumulative period of 30 days in one policy year even when he returns to the country of residence for the purpose of a vacation or otherwise.
  • Balance Period of Policy + 30 days - Medical Expenses for inpatient treatment at an Indian Hospital taken within a maximum of 30 days from the end of the Risk Period

Additional Optional Benefits

On payment of additional premium & subject to limits defined in the policy schedule, the following optional benefits shall be added as additional optional benefits to the Policy.


Accidental Cover

  • Personal Accident - The policy will cover against death or permanent disablement due to an accident.
  • Felonious Assault - The policy will cover against permanent disablement due to an accident due to felonious assault.

Travel Inconvenience Cover

  • Total Loss of Checked-in Baggage - The plan covers against the loss of checked-in baggage by a carrier on which the you were travelling as a fare paying passenger.
  • Delay of Checked-in Baggage - The plan offers you compensation for any delay in the delivery of a checked-in baggage by a Carrier on which you were travelling as a fare paying passenger.
  • Loss of Passport - The plan will reimburse the actual expenses incurred in obtaining a duplicate or fresh passport either overseas or within 30 days of your return to India.

Non Medical Cover

  • Study Interruption - The plan will reimburse actual expenses on tuition fee already paid to the educational institution when the student is not able to continue his/her studies due to hospitalisation for more than a period of consecutive 30 days.
  • Sponsor Protection - The plan will reimburse actual expenses on tuition fee already paid to the educational institution in case of death or disablement of the insured‘s sponsor.
  • Compassionate Visit (2-way) - The plan will cover round trip economy class air ticket or first class railway ticket for one immediate family member and the accommodation expenses in case the student is hospitalised for more than 7 days.
  • Bail Bond - Policy will cover bail bond costs as a result of false arrest or wrongful detention by any government or foreign power.
  • Personal Liability - The policy will help cover against any legal liability (including defence costs) to pay damages for negligence which results from a third party civil claim for third party death, bodily injury or property damage.

Maternity & Childcare Benefits

  • Maternity Benefit - Policy will cover medical expenses for necessary medical treatment to insured person upto the limit defined in the course of pregnancy (including at the time of delivery, lawful medical termination of pregnancy and the cost of a midwife or obstetric nurse) during the risk period.
  • Childcare Benefits - Benefit provides hospital cash upto the limit defined in case dependent child between the age of 91 days and 25 years is hospitalised for more than 2 days.

Additional Benefits

  • Treatment of Mental and Nervous Disorder; Including Alcoholism and Drug Dependency - Treatments for mental and nervous disorders, including alcoholism and drug dependency are covered upto $1000 under the policy.
  • Medical Expenses for Inter-collegiate Sports Injuries - Medical expenses for inter-collegiate sports injuries are covered under the policy as a part of the medical treatment coverage.
  • Cancer Screening and Mammography Examinations - Cancer screening and mammographic examinations on recommendation from physician will be paid under this policy, subject to a maximum limit as mentioned in the schedule of benefits.
  • Emergency Financial Assistance - In case of an unforeseen financial emergency such as theft, pilferage, robbery, we will arrange for assistance for financial support from insured‘s relative or family members in country of residence.
  • HIV Cover - Plan will cover medical expenses in case of identified first stage of HIV where symptoms commenced within first 90 days.
Exclusions
  • Traveling abroad for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment.
  • Pre-existing illness / diseases unless opted for full PED coverage.
  • Treatment which was not medically necessary or could reasonably have been delayed until the Insured Person’s return to India.
  • War or any act of war, invasion, act of foreign enemy, war like operations, civil war, public defense, rebellion revolution, insurrection, military or usurped acts, riot, terrorism, chemical, radioactive or nuclear contamination.
  • Participation or involvement in naval, military or air force operations, racing, diving, aviation, scuba diving, parachuting, hang-gliding, rock or mountain climbing.
  • Any breach of law with criminal intent.
  • Self-inflicted injury, suicide or attempted suicide.

Extension Terms

Policy can be extended once in the policy period upto the maximum total duration of 3 years, provided there is no claim under the policy.
